Joy Powers Announces 33-Stop, 10-Day Get Out the Vote Tour Across the 9th District

Bedford, VA — Joy Powers, Democratic nominee for Congress in Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District, will launch her “Bring It Home with Joy” Get Out the Vote Tour on October 24, beginning ten days of campaign stops across the district before concluding November 2, the day before Election Day.

From Pennington Gap to Bedford, Powers will meet voters at community festivals, local businesses, meet-and-greets, and campaign rallies. The tour will also feature events with U.S. Senator Mark Warner in Galax, Abingdon, and Wytheville.

“Thirty-one stops in ten days means a lot of miles, but every community on this tour deserves our time and attention,” Powers said. “I want people to meet me, ask me tough questions, and know exactly who they’re voting for. We’re going to spend these final days earning every vote we can.”

A fourth-generation cattle farmer, small business owner, and Bedford County mother, Powers will discuss protecting rural health care, lowering everyday costs, supporting family farms, and giving rural communities a stronger voice in Washington.

The tour will begin with visits in Russell, Lee, and Wise counties and continue through communities across the coalfields, New River Valley, and Southside Virginia. It is scheduled to conclude with an election-eve rally on November 2 with Virginia Tech students in Blacksburg.

“This tour is about turning the concerns I’ve heard across this district into action at the ballot box,” Powers said. “If you want a representative who will fight for your family and your community, come stand with us. Let’s bring this home together.”
